1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (whole or 2%)
For the Apple Mixture:
2 small apples (peeled and chopped β about 1 1/2 cups)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
1/3 cup (65 g) brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
1β2 tablespoons milk or cream
(Optional: a drop of vanilla extract)
π° Instructions
Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan:
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Make the Apple Mixture:
In a small bowl, mix chopped apples, 2 tbsp sugar, and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside to allow juices to form.
Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl:
In another bowl, combine brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.
Make the Batter:
Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2β3 minutes).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking powder.
Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
Assemble the Loaf:
Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.
Top with half of the apple mixture and half of the cinnamon swirl mixture.
Lightly swirl with a knife.
Add remaining batter, then top with remaining apples and cinnamon swirl.
Swirl again gently.
Bake:
Bake for 50β60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
(Check at 50 minutes β cover with foil if browning too quickly.)
Cool & Glaze:
Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Mix glaze ingredients until smooth and drizzle over the cooled bread.
π‘ Tips for Success
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance, or Honeycrisp for extra sweetness.
Donβt overmix the batter β it should be just combined to stay fluffy.
Swirl gently β too much mixing can blend the cinnamon layer into the batter.
Cool completely before glazing or the glaze will melt.
Store at room temperature up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
