Herb-Glazed Dinner Rolls

Herb-glazed dinner rolls are a delightful addition to any meal, bringing a touch of homemade warmth and comfort to your table. These rolls are inspired by my grandmother’s Sunday dinners, where the aroma of freshly baked bread filled the house. The herb-infused glaze not only adds a beautiful shine but also a burst of flavor that elevates these rolls from ordinary to extraordinary. Perfect for family gatherings or a simple weeknight dinner, these rolls are sure to impress.
These herb-glazed dinner rolls pair beautifully with a hearty soup or stew, making them perfect for a cozy dinner. They also complement a fresh salad or a roasted chicken dish, adding a touch of elegance to your meal. For a special occasion, serve them alongside a charcuterie board or a cheese platter to delight your guests.
Herb-Glazed Dinner Rolls
Ingredients
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon honey
Directions
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in individual round baking cups on a non-stick baking tray.
Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, honey, chopped parsley, and rosemary to make the glaze.
Brush the glaze over the rolls generously.
Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a cheesy twist, sprinkle some grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese over the rolls before baking. You can also experiment with different herbs like thyme or oregano for a unique flavor. If you prefer a sweeter roll, add a bit more honey to the glaze. For a whole wheat version, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour, keeping in mind that the texture will be slightly denser.
