Cheesy Asparagus Casserole

Cheesy Asparagus Casserole

This Cheesy Asparagus Casserole is creamy, rich, and loaded with flavor thanks to Parmesan, Pepper Jack, and crispy bacon. The homemade cheese sauce coats tender asparagus without overpowering it, making this dish perfect for holiday dinners, potlucks, or simple weeknight meals.

Ingredients
2 bunches asparagus, washed and trimmed
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 ounce soft cream cheese
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/8 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/3 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

How to Make Cheesy Asparagus Casserole
Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish and arrange the trimmed asparagus inside.

Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the soft cream cheese, heavy cream, chicken broth, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir constantly until smooth and well blended.

Simmer & Thicken:
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the sauce thickens. Whisk frequently to prevent sticking. Once thick, add the Parmesan and Pepper Jack cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

Assemble the Casserole:
Pour the cheese sauce over the center of the asparagus, avoiding the tops. Sprinkle mozzarella (optional) and red pepper flakes on top.

Bake:
Bake for 15 minutes (reduce 2–3 minutes if you want the asparagus crunchier).
Add Bacon:
Remove from oven, sprinkle bacon over the top, and bake for an additional 3 minutes.

Serve:
Remove from oven, let rest for 2 minutes, and enjoy!
