It’s a Big Mistake to Add Only Water When Cooking Rice

Ingredients:
2 cups basmati or jasmine rice
3 cups water or broth (chicken or vegetable)
1 tbsp butter or oil
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1 bay leaf (optional)
1 small onion, finely chopped (optional for flavor)
1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
In a pot, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic if using; sauté until fragrant.
Add the rice and stir for 1–2 minutes to lightly toast it—this helps keep it fluffy.
Pour in broth instead of plain water and add salt (and bay leaf if using).
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
Cover with a tight lid and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
Turn off the heat and let it rest (covered) for 10 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and enjoy your perfectly flavorful rice!
