Herb-Infused German Beef Rouladen with Caramelized Onions
Ingredients
4 thin slices of beef (top round or flank steak)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
2 tablespoons mustard
4 slices of bacon
1 cup caramelized onions
4 pickles, sliced lengthwise
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup red wine
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Directions
Season the beef slices with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
Spread each slice of beef with mustard.
Layer a slice of bacon, a spoonful of caramelized onions, and a pickle slice on each beef slice.
Roll up the beef slices tightly and secure them with toothpicks.
